Hello GIS Committee members -

The Colorado 2022 NG9-1-1 GIS Data Readiness Survey report is available on the Committee’s web page.  The results imply a lack of GIS data readiness for NG9-1-1 service, though a more rigorous & detailed survey by a consultant is warranted due to the relatively low response rate.

In addition to the NENA NG9-1-1 GIS Data Model version 2 published in 2022, the NENA GIS Data Model Templates version 2 was recently published and is also downloadable from the committee web page.  The Templates can also be downloaded from GitHub via this NENA web page:  https://www.nena.org/page/NG911GISDataModel.  The link to the GitHub page is directly below NENA’s link to the Data Model document.  The GitHub page includes descriptions of the changes, as well as the Templates in a downloadable zipped folder labeled “Source code”.

On May 10th at the Colorado NENA/APCO Conference, there will be an NG9-1-1 GIS Data Model Templates session, also presented yesterday at NENA’s Spring Joint Committee Meeting. The session will be at 9 am in Carter Lake B. If you have any questions about the NENA GIS Data Model or the Templates, it will be an excellent forum to discuss them.

Please note that the NG9-1-1 Templates are only a common transport format of NG9-1-1 data layers between GIS Data Providers and the NGCS Spatial Interface (SI). The Templates are not a schema that your organization must adopt internally. Most organizations are expected to maintain their data as is or with some extended attributes.

Best,

-Tom
