Hello Colorado 9-1-1 and 911-GIS stakeholders -

On behalf of the 9-1-1 Task Force GIS Committee, this is to share the second version of NENA's GIS Data Stewardship for NG9-1-1 informational guidance document which was recently published (see attached).  It can also be downloaded from the NENA standards web page or the GIS Committee web page documents folder:  https://sites.google.com/state.co.us/9-1-1-advisory-task-force/committees/gis-committee.

Its goal is to assist PSAP, 9-1-1 governing body, and partner 9-1-1 GIS staff with understanding and adopting best practices for developing and maintaining GIS data needed for NG9-1-1 service.  It distills much of the NENA Standards for the Provisioning and Maintenance of GIS data to ECRF and LVFs, NENA-STA-005.1.2-2022 [3], and the NG9-1-1 GIS Data Model, NENA-STA-006.2-2022 [2], into a little more plain-English guidance, notwithstanding the 9-1-1 acronyms.  However, it does not yet provide in-depth recommendations for address points and other layers, which will be added in a future version.  A key aspect is ensuring your service boundaries and other GIS data seamlessly match with those of neighboring jurisdictions.

Best,
