Colorado SuperNet is pleased to offer a series of classes on networking topics.
Our goal is to help the Colorado online community grow and learn to use what
the Internet offers more effectively.
Course Format.
The courses are lectures, but the atmosphere is informal and questions are
encouraged. On-line demos are provided, but so far we haven't had enough
demand for hands-on sessions to offer them.
Custom classes can be arranged for large audiences.
Costs.
Prices are listed in the individual class descriptions. They include
course materials, parking, and refreshments.
If you are affiliated with a CSN Dedicated customer and wish to attend,
special arrangements might apply - contact us.
Registration.
Sign-up is first come, first served. Class size limited to 25. A
waiting list will be maintained. If it snows, call us to find out if
class is postponed, and we will do our best to reschedule. If you need

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Internet 101 is a basic course for people new to the Internet.
Course Description.
The course begins with a general overview of the Internet - it's scope,
what it offers, where it's headed. Connection options (interactive, UUCP,
SLIP, etc) are discussed.
The bulk of the time is spent on the four main on-line services of interest:
electronic mail and addressing (featuring Elm), using the bulletin board
system called USENET or netnews (including ClariNet), telnetting (remote
login) to libraries and databases, and obtaining software and documentation
via ftp (file transfer).
No Unix experience is necessary - we provide a menu interface.
Prerequisites.
None.
Time.
This class lasts 3 hours.
Teacher(s).
The class is being taught by Trent Hein and Herb Morreale, veterans
of many years of administration with teaching experience at USENIX
conferences.
Cost.
The cost is $75 for members, $100 for non-members.

Internet 202 is geared towards Unix systems administrators who maintain a
dialin link to the Internet (a separate course in the future will address
dedicated links).
Course Description.

the Domain Name System, and security issues. Specifically:
Configuring HDB UUCP

An Overview of the Domain Name System
Installing and Maintaining C-News
Securing your system for use in the Internet environment:

Unlike one of our other classes (Internet 101), Internet 202 has
definite prerequisites. Attendees should have a thorough background
in basic Unix administration. Specifically, they should be familiar

permissions, make(1), and basic user-level Unix Commands.
If you're not sure where you fit in, try the attached quiz.
