You've an interesting dilemma Ms. Hammontree, if indeed that is your

Whilst I was quite able to access your ip address and alleged posting
gateway, it was in more diligent research that a rather glaring
inconsistency presented itself.
To wit - you seem to be from Colorado Springs - all well and good - and
even your message shows a Colorado based posting preference, yet there
is a glaring discrepancy.
A quick trace route of your ip address leads one to the nether reaches
of Tehran, Iran.
Now given that you seek stateside clientele for your alleged "escort'
service - an all to odd admission held in the same breath as your
revelation of complimentary employment at the American Academy of
Forensic Sciences, one has to view your message in its context.
And strange as things have been that led quickly to Tehran, Iran.
What a unique place for an American escort girl to be funneling her
posts through, if said were the case.
Sad to say, one hopes, it turns out that your net name resolves as :
Kavosh computer, your country: Iran, and the person noted on your trace
as Saeed Tavaloki, address of #552 Asad Abadi St, Tehran, Iran.
I'll spare you the phone and fax numbers for now, but I am curious as to
why an Iranian would be so intrigued with an alleged American escort
girl.
Troubled times as these are would it be such a reach as to ask why a
somewhat petulant American call girl with lesbian lover photos and an ax
to grind could be so blatant as to post her name, birth date and
straight employer in a regional news group.
And once more would it be unsettling to see that her source domain was
not in Colorado Springs, but rather Tehran, Iran.
Certainly there is the faintest whiff of suspicion as to the
authenticity of the posting, if not the poster.
Care to respond my dear?

213.155.38.130, and it's posted through google groups. I'd not considered
the use of a proxy server, though it seems quite logical however. If so
perhaps Ms. Hammontree might consider if having an Iranian connection would
be the most appealing postmark for the type of services she purports to
offer.

Dear me, unwittingly provoking such mirth was at best an unintended rider.
Perhaps I'd best quit whilst I'm ahead.

Frankly coupled with the appearance of these "trance-formation" posts and their
erroneous "reply to" settings I'd maintain an aura of surreal coincidence is prevalent
in the groups. "Curioser and curioser" as Alice might rightly opine, and perhaps
equally fictional lacking any concrete underpinnings.

Not trying to defend her "honor" for I know nothing about him/her...but
to be fair,
the Irani "postmark" would only be something that was known to those few
who knew about traceroute and other IP tools. The masses would not have
a clue as to their use nor existence. Since you do, I would be curious
as to your background, as I am in the internet business myself and
always looking for savvy people. If that might be you, email me.
BTW: nslookup on my name server cannot find that address you mentioned.
Are you sure about it?

For the post mentioned yes, quite.
Your question however is proper and as such I chose to explore in a bit more
depth, taking Ms. Hammontree's initial post to the co.cos.general newsgroup as a
jumping off point.
"Curioser and curioser" it becomes.
Perhaps the theory of a proxy server holds, or perhaps there are some odd
coincidences once more. From a post identified as 195.161.254.132 on 12-13-01 her
nntp becomes an address in Russia, Krasnodar International Telephone & Telegraph
exchange, one Andrey U. Malin. If RIPE is accurate this is another unique
geographic proxy wouldn't you say?
In addition she appears not to be using a tool like "multiproxy" for her posts as
the source addy. remains fixed for any given day's posting - no systematic
shifts.. And unsurprisingly Qwest has no listing for said individual in their
directories.
So, no to be too obsessive, but a tad more research shows that the aforementioned
Ms. Hammontree/James apparently is indeed employed by the AAFS.
Certainly it would be my hope that her reputation/identity is not being misused
in cyberspace. If so she is due both a wakeup call and an apology for any
discussion I've promulgated here which has unwittingly advanced such agenda.
If anything a quick google search revealed the following information about this

A diverse sampling to be sure, though by no means at odds with the information
she has apparently chosen to share on her current web page.
In any case it need be noted that Ms. Hammontree's search for clientele has not
been so dire as to compel her to reply in any manner to the usenet commentary she
has provoked.
Should that be a wise or merely canny strategy I think we will have to judge by
the tone and frequency of her commercial solicitations.
Location has, for the moment, become rather a ball in play.
The individual doing the posting is her ex and she is quite aware of the
troubles he is attempting to bestow upon her. The authorities have been
contacted, all the email hosts he's using have also been contacted (as well
as the gentlemen in Iran who are still asking me how to stop this from
happening). He is now simply being *watched*.
The "ex" also makes use of Linux servers in California, a few different
connections near his home and employemnt in Texas and an
Earthlink/Mindspring dial up when he's not trying to hide.
The other email addresses he liked to use are as follows.....

When he first started posting and advertising the sites he was not the least

he'd be investigated.

Thank you for the explanation, I suppose it would have had to be something
unfortunate like this, how painfully sad for the lady. My apologies if my rather
amateur sleuthing has caused her any further grief. The internet can be such a
crashing bore sometimes that this seemed a bit of a puzzle at least. Now it
resolves into a domestic stalking spat, one hopes the authorities will act

Showing no indication of having read the full thread - a not unexpected
