I hope you all are doing well! I enjoyed getting together at SXSW. I
had to leave Sunday to get on with business at home--Cesar, John,
thanks for taking us around... I gotta get back out there for another
fix, soon...

We had a lawyer drop by our Jelly yesterday. He was familiar with
coworking because 1) he's part of an organization called Red Mountain
Law, which is not a law firm but is instead an umbrella organization
for a group of small 1 or 2 person practices that are all "of counsel"
with each other (so they can work on projects together), 2) he spends
a lot of time working in coffee shops.

I'm passing this along, because it occurred to me that you all might
be able to mine something of value out of their business model--aside
from the fact that it was law (a diverse profession in its own way) it
struck me as very similar to what you are trying to do.

Red Mountain Law is not a law firm--it can't "practice law". It only
serves as a brand and umbrella for a group of independents who want to
practice as part of a group without forming a legal partnership. The
phrase "of counsel" is a officially (ABA) defined term that specifies
how the independents should/may interact.

Todd--
It was great to see you and Drew again.

Recognizing other models out there is invaluable to us since what
we're doing is fairly unique, at least in our industry. During
talking about Conjunctured, we also learned of a similar co-company
model in real estate (Keller Williams as the umbrella). We really
appreciate the insight as we can take what others are doing well and
apply it to Conjunctured and leave what is ineffective.

It's great that so many people came together at SXSW this year around
the coworking concept. Hopefully next year it will be a large enough
phenomena that we'll have our own official panel on the subject. On
behalf of anyone involved, I'm vetoing on Sarah Lacy moderating,
though.

Hopefully we'll see y'all soon and let us know if you're down for a
swim at the greenbelt or a show at the Continental this summer. And
make sure to keep us updated with the books, seminars and the like.
