Hi all!

My name is Juan Sequeda and I just found out of Conjunctured through John Erik Metcalf at the Austin Semantic meet up (is that now official?) I am really excited about this new group and I am definitely interested in being part of this effort.

I am currently finish my B.S. in Computer Sciences at UT and starting my Ph.D in CS here at UT in the Fall. There are two sides to me: 1) I am a web developer and entrepreneur with experience in developing software in cross cultural environments. I have a company in Cali, Colombia where the development is done and my partner company is Smartbridge (www.smartbridge.ch) in Zürich, Switzerland. I also just recently participated in Venture Weekend (ventureweekend.com) and started turn2live.com 2) I am a Semantic Web evangelist and I want to get everybody on board! My research involves integrating relational database content with the semantic web. I am part of the RDB and RDF Working Group of the W3C, in hope to find solutions to these problems. If you say the word "Semantics", I will be part of that conversation !!!

I am looking forward to know how I can become more active in this group.

Hi Juan,

Good to meet you. I'd be interested in talking with you about representing semantic data in databases. I'm currently exploring what's available in the {OLAP, column-oriented} database space and feel that representing mutating data in the common OLTP RDBMSes is far from an optimal solution.

Congratulations on continuing at UT, I'm hoping to join that program fall '09.

Hi Matt

Very curious, with my advisor, Daniel Miranker, we were talking the other day... "OLAP and Ontologies... is there something out there?" Well, it was just something that came up, but we never pursued anything.

Definitely keep in touch! Hoping to meet all you guys soon.
