Dear Mary,

This is the week the Single Payer movement burst back onto the New York political scene! This Wednesday there is a Meet-and-Greet with Dick Gottfried, Chair of the NYS Assembly Health Committee at 6PM; and on Thursday, the Health Committee kicks off its official statewide hearings on the New York Health bill in Syracuse at 10AM - preceded by a press conference at 9:30AM. The New York Health will provide New Yorkers with all necessary medical care, regardless of age, pre-existing conditions or employment status.

Learn more and join the fight for health care as a human right at the following events in Syracuse this week:

Single Payer Public Hearing

Thursday December 4,10am-5pm at 766 Irving Ave. Weiskotten Hall, Upstate Medical University

The first of six hearings across the state, the Assemly Health Committee will receive testimony from patients, doctors, workers and health care experts about the need to provide health care to all New Yorkers. New York could SAVE $20 billion dollars by eliminating the inefficient insurance company middle man out of our health care system. Come testify, come listen, and join the movement for universal health care. RSVP here!

The Campaign for New York Health is a new coalition working to implement universal, single-payer health care in New York State. We are dedicated to passing and implementing the New York Health bill for universal, single-payer health care in New York State to make health care a guaranteed right for all New Yorkers, not something available only to those who can afford it.

Speak out for a health care system that puts patients over profits!

  • Are you uninsured or underinsured?
  • Have you ever delayed care because you couldn’t afford the copay or deductible?
  • Have you ever stayed in a job just to keep your health insurance?
  • Have you ever been denied necessary care by your insurance company?
  • Have you ever had to file for bankruptcy because of medical debt?
  • Are you a medical professional who is frustrated with the barriers that private health insurance companies create?
  • Do you have to make difficult choices between paying your health care premium and other bills?

If you answered yes to any of the questions above or have another story to share about how the health care system affects you, please attend and testify at this hearing! We need people to testify in support of Single Payer - if you are willing to speak in support of Single Payer, please contact Ursula, (315) 414-7720urs...@nyhcampaign.org
