SUBJECT:  "Learning Worlds Collide- Combining Social and Distance Learning Tools"

 

VENUE:  Nationwide Insurance, 110 Elwood Davis Road, Syracuse

 

TIME:  8:00 am: Networking and light refreshments

              8:30 – 10:30 am Panelists presentations and discussion.

 

COST:  CNY ASTD Members:  $15

PANELISTS:

Topic:  Collaboration, Communication, and Community:  What can distance and social learning tools do to enhance these important learning elements?

 

Betty D'Arrigo  Director Service Delivery and Training Unit Manager  and Craig Hawkinson  Training AXA Equitable

Topic:  Using Web Ex tool for distance learning

 

Joe Stabb - Director of Emerging Media,   ABC Creative Group

Topic:  Incorporating Social Learning Tools into your learning Delivery System

 

Martha (Marty) Whalen Ph.D. - Dissertation Topic: “Exploring Faculty Time Management in Online and Blended/Hybrid Higher Education”

Topic:  Challenges and opportunities of online and blended/hybrid education.

 

FORMAT:

Each Panelist will prepare a 10-12 minute presentation on how they have successfully incorporated using distance and/or social learning tools in their organization, or their experiences and insights into using distance and/or social learning tools.  After each presentation, a question/answer/discussion period.  Around 30 minutes total per panelist.

 

Some ideas for presentation/discussion:  

Ø  Filtering for best tool(s) to use based on desired outcome

Ø  Real life examples of best/most effective uses of Distance and Social learning tools

Ø  Making choices on what tools to use and how to combine Distance and Social learning tools

Ø  How can we use the tools available to most effectively communicate, educate, measure and convey knowledge.
