to CNYASTD Social & Informal Learning SIG
Our Performance Management Chairs will be moving on to chair our new
Special Interest Group (Measurement and Evaluation SIG)...
Thank you Amy Bartolotta and Gretchen Jolly for all your hard work
with the PM SIG and we look forward to your expertise and leadership
with the M&E SIG.
Our PM SIG doesn't have to dissolve but we need to make some
decisions. One thought Amy and Gretchen left me with was that
Performance Management can mean different things to different people.
For example, our SIG was geared more toward what may be considered a
SHRM definition of Performance Management - - - Managing Human
Capital, Human Resource Development and Employee Evaluation and
Performance.
Another definition may be Performance Consulting which I understand to
be able to bring an objective view to an organization, really look
into its processes, identify problems and issues, facilitate
discussion, strategize with organizational leaders to implement
changes where necessary, provide lacking resources, train (if
justified) in order to support performance improvements. This may be
more in line with what our consulting members do on a daily basis.
I look forward to your thoughts on these definitions and any others
you may have.
