Dr. Will Thalheimer who writes extensively about effective training
recently posted: “Is Your Training Course Likely to Boost
Performance?” In the post he shares his research-based beliefs and the
importance of measurement.

In the post he talks about the key “levers” and has created a simple
beta tool for reviewing a course.

I looked it over this morning and generally I find it pretty solid. Of
course, as he admits, its beta and he welcomes criticism. However
this may be a good tool to use to:

1. Start the internal conversation about which areas of various
courses/programs need to improve and how
2. Show executives your attention to ensuring effectiveness and better
articulate needs

So, if one must do training, then making sure it is done right is
critical.
