Hi All:

I just wanted to spread the word about a project at Hamilton where students are offering to help at local farms to encourage sustainability projects.  I think this can be interpreted pretty broadly.

If you have fencing, building, planting, etc. projects where you could use a big group for a day, please reach out to Betsy Gross h...@hamilton.edu  See Betsy's blurb below.

I can also help with any questions.  We have put big groups of Hamilton students to work in the past, and gotten a lot done with them.  I hope some of you might have some ideas as the students are excited to make this happen.

Also, please feel free to pass this around if there are others I missed on this email.

Best,
Jason

The Hamilton College Sustainability offices propose a new project, the “Athletic Offsets Program”. The college hosts nearly 30 athletic teams, traveling over 65,000 miles each year for away games and out-of-state conferences. The project will act as a crucial step towards achieving transparent and meaningful carbon neutrality with Hamilton's scope 3 emissions. By directing student athletes towards community-based carbon offsetting initiatives, we believe we can reach carbon neutrality while simultaneously maintaining strong bonds with the college’s surrounding communities. The sustainability office wishes to provide volunteer labor to community farmers, allowing students to contribute sustainably against their emissions impact and ultimately forge lasting relationships with the community. The Hamilton sustainability office is looking for community farmers who practice sustainably in need of volunteer labor. In exchange for completing sustainable projects and producing offsets, the sustainability office will provide labor. The office hopes to maintain a lasting relationship with farms during each season.  Please contact h...@hamilton.edu or leave Betsy Gross at 781-783-2908 a message for more information!
