Here's a way to follow the flight on Google Earth with up-to-date satellite imagery (see attached KMZ).

Congrats!

Questions (I'm sure many have the same):
1. What about an airplane crashing into this (or is that very remote, i.e. "big sky" theory)?
2. Flying over sovereign territories?
3. Other amateurs have done super pressure balloons, what makes CNSP (note there are others besides Ron) that made this flight successful?

Yeah, mainly. And the fact that the mass of the payload is prolly less
than 1/2 oz.

Better to ask forgiveness than permission.

3. Other amateurs have done super pressure balloons, what makes CNSP

Leo Bodnar M0XER out of the UK has launched several circumnavigating
super-pressures, one of which went around the planet 7 times!. The hard
part is getting the beacon mass down and getting the gas fill right.

Now offshore from NC. HySplit predicts another pass over Morocco
sunrise on Feb 11th and skirting along the S shore of the Med.
Nicely done, Ron!

Congratz Ron and the team, now she is exploring northern Africa.... wonder how the hot air over the desert will influence her path or telemetry... keep going! And kudos, Ron to accomplish the frequental shiftover from the US- APRS-QRG to the European! Great task!
