All nonprofits to truly seek to understand their impact, READ THIS!

The nonprofit sector in the Portland region is robust and expansive. Lives are being touched every day.
Communities are being transformed. But our collective capacity to prove and to improve our impact is insufficient.

To ensure we are doing the greatest good for the communities we serve, we need an enhanced ability to engage in crisp, clear, and effective evaluation. This is a project to make that happen.

Counseling Clients Experiencing Grief and Loss: A Fresh Perspective

Grief and loss are common therapeutic themes though not always identified as such, particularly when non-death related. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross and her five stages were long held up as the standard model for working through grief and loss even though her research was with dying individuals. Fortunately, one-size-fits-all models are no longer the standard.

In this workshop, we will discuss new ways to describe the impact of grief on our clients, including discussions on resilience and posttraumatic growth. Our focus will also be on the importance of tailoring our interventions to the individual, including a consideration of differing grieving styles.

Volunteering

Volunteer Groups Needed 2nd Saturday of Every Month!

The Habitat for Humanity Store in Vancouver is looking for individuals to help us do a once-over on the store and catch up on some lingering projects that help keep our store looking it’s best! Connect with other volunteers from the community, learn a little bit about Habitat for Humanity and the Store mission, and see all the exciting (and sometimes odd or unreal) donations that come to our store every day.

Volunteers will help organize the sales floor, assist customers with their purchased items, help facilitate our donation intake, and help keep our aisles clear and safe. If you are the type of person who likes to keep busy, and see automatic results from their hard work, this is a great volunteer project for you!
