Q & AThere are currently no Q & A posts. TrainingsIntercultural Communication: Critical Understandings for EffectivenessWe tend to have specific ways we define “good” communication and conflict resolution (e.g., “I feel” statements, direct processing, assertive communication). However, if we do not incorporate intercultural communication (IC) concepts, unintentional misunderstandings may occur with the people we work with and in our relationships. This workshop will review key intercultural communication theories and concepts, and how to apply them in communication between adults. The concepts presented still apply in communication with children, however specific applications with children will not be discussed in the workshop. The importance of integrating intercultural communication work with social justice perspectives will also be emphasized. VolunteeringPost-Holiday Volunteer Grocery Shoppers NeededStore to Door is looking for helpful volunteer grocery shoppers in January and February, when the holiday bustle starts slowing down. Come join us one Wednesday or Thursday morning to help shop for much-needed groceries and small household items for local home-bound seniors and people with disabilities. It's a great activity to help burn off those extra holiday pounds too -- shoppers clock more the 4,000 steps every time they volunteer! Come on your own, with family and friends or with your company as a team-building activity. Contact Barb McDowell at 503-200-3333 ext.
