Dear friends,
Check out our chapter's upcoming events:

[1] Near-Future Events

(a) TONIGHT -- last day of the online plant sale
Nov 3-4: Shop online
If you missed our 2025 Fall Plant Sale this is another chance to add more California natives to your garden.

The CNPS SCV Nursery plant sale at the CNPS SCV Nursery Online Store continues until midnight on Tuesday, November 4. You can shop from the comfort of your home, and schedule a pickup on Friday, November 7 at the CNPS SCV Nursery or Saturday, November 8 at the Seed and Cutting Exchange. The store will close when either the pickup capacity is reached or at the end of the day on November 4, whichever occurs first.

We still have over 130 cultivars/species available in the store, so there are plenty of choices. Our new t-shirt featuring the chapter's logo is also available in the store.

(b) Seed and Cutting Exchange & Plant Sale Pickup
Saturday Nov 8, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
The Seed and Cutting Exchange will be on Saturday, November 8 from 1:00 to 3:00pm at the Peninsula Conservation Center (PCC), 3921 E. Bayshore Road in Palo Alto. This free event provides an opportunity to share and receive both seeds and cuttings of native plants. Browse the diverse offerings, ranging from easy-to-grow to hard-to-find, and go home with seeds and cuttings of new native plants! We will provide coin envelopes for seeds but bring containers to carry cuttings home.
[2] Looking for volunteers
CNPS SCV is a volunteer run organization looking for a few people to strengthen the team.

(a) Hospitality Chair
Our long-time, wonderful Hospitality Chair Vicki Silvas-Young has stepped down. We are looking for a new Hospitality Chair to oversee food and beverage arrangements at chapter events. Chapter events include the three larger events which are the Wildflower Show in April, the Fall Plant Sale in October and the potluck in November. There may be other smaller events throughout the year, like the mailing party that's usually held in April. All of these events are staffed by volunteers and we provide food and drinks to make the experience more inviting.

Your main tasks include shopping for food and drinks, and directed volunteers with set up before events and clean up afterwards. If you have organized food for large gatherings before, then you already have what it takes! You do not need to be experienced in hospitality to volunteer for this role, and you will have other chapter volunteers assisting you throughout the events.

If you are interested, please email Janet Hoffman (ja...@hoffmann.net) or Toni Gregorio-Bunch (tidyt...@gmail.com).

(b) CNPS Santa Clara Valley Nursery
The long-time management and supervisory team at the CNPS native plant nursery is looking for members to take over nursery operations. We need people, preferably with botanical or horticultural experience to oversee and direct the nursery. We are looking for dedicated volunteers who would be willing to commit to at least 2 years to keep the nursery running smoothly. The current team plans to wind down their involvement and work with replacements to assure a smooth transition next fall.

We have a team of volunteers who help regularly with many of the day-to-day nursery tasks. We need people, preferably with botanical or horticultural experience to oversee and direct the nursery operations. This includes scheduling and oversight of plant production tasks, overseeing the maintenance of plants in the nursery and in the demonstration garden, managing upkeep of the nursery facilities, and organizing plant sales on a regular basis. With enough interest, there is the possibility of creating a management team to share these responsibilities.

Over the next year, current staff would like to be able to work with replacements to assure a smooth transition around this time next year. Please get the word out to any of your contacts who might be interested in stepping forward to keep the nursery going. If you are interested in volunteering or want more information, please contact Janet Hoffmann, Nursery Leadership Development Committee Lead at ja...@cnps-scv.org.
