John Bolton isn't the smoking gun the media want him to be

Does anyone even remember why the national media were so interested in
hearing from former national security adviser John Bolton?
It had something to do with Ukraine (Zzz …) and President Trump and
explosive information in his new book.
But other than an affirmation for Democrats that Trump did pressure
Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden (it comes well after the failed
impeachment, making it worthless), what else has been remarkable about
Bolton?
The most interesting thing about him is actually that, despite hinting
that he would be the former White House insider to blow the lid off
things, he’s been extremely reluctant to criticize the president in any
meaningful way.
He won’t even commit to voting for Trump’s opponent in the 2020 election.
And Sunday on CNN, he declined again and again to say the things liberals
in the media are begging to hear.
Asked by Jake Tapper to comment on a video Trump had “retweeted” that
morning wherein a bunch of old people are outside protesting both in
support of and against the president (one guy yells, “White power!”),
Bolton gave a likely true, but ultimately dead-fish answer.
“He doesn’t pay attention to a lot of things,” Bolton said, going on to
guess that Trump probably didn’t even notice the inflammatory comment in
the video. “It’s entirely possible that he tweeted this video because he
saw the sign, I think it was in the first go-kart, that said Trump 2020 or
something like that and that’s all he needed to see [before sharing it].”
Asked if he thought Russian President Vladimir Putin had “information” on
Trump, Bolton again refused to play the media's never-ending Russia game.
“If I thought there were information, I would have revealed it because
that would be the most disturbing thing you could imagine.”
If he hadn’t booked the solid 15-minute segment for Bolton, Tapper might
well have just ended it and run dead air. It would have been more
interesting. But there was still time to fill, so Tapper gravely asked
Bolton if Trump “poses a clear and present danger to the nation.”
No dice.
“Look, that’s a buzz phrase,” said Bolton. “I think he’s dangerous enough.
He shouldn’t get a second term.”
We already knew he wasn’t voting for Trump. So much for blowing the lid
off of things ...
