Most of you know that Brenna went to inpatient hospice on Monday due to severe agitation. I saw her yesterday and she is calm and comfortable, mostly sleeping. Her family and best friends from Boston are around her. They are talking days to weeks, though as
we know Brenna has amazing strength and has surprised us many times in the past.
The family is open to anyone visiting who wants to see her. She was not alert yesterday and I'm not sure how much she will be. Don't feel badly if you can't make it. If you do want to go feel free to just show up with the understanding that things are unpredictable.
You could also call the hospice to check in before going.
Brenna and her family are incredibly grateful to the donations that have come in through the YouCaring site
https://www.youcaring.com/brennaclougherty-1049858. They've been able to make a dent in medical and care-taking bills and it has relieved significant anxiety about finances.
A few other ideas on ways to help:
Food: Send meals to the hospice or home (lots of visitors are staying there), or gift cards to order from nearby restaurants (addresses below).
There's no refrigeration or storage at the hospice so only small amounts at a time, please.
If anyone could organize a Signup Genius or something of the sort for meals that would be great!
Hospice Room: Lots of flowers were arriving yesterday in a small room. The walls are somewhat blank. Pictures or readings to hang up might be nice.
Travel: Her family is traveling back and forth from Boston. Gift cards for JetBlue would be another nice contribution.
Let me know if you have questions. Feel free to pass this on to anyone I’ve missed.
Warmly,
Laura
