Hi everyone!
I cover 2 medical units, 1 of them being a designated COVID floor. Due to our rapidly declining COVID numbers, they are now opening up the COVID floor to all patients. This has been extraordinarily difficult for the staff as we are so used to treating everyone the same and wearing the respirator, faceshield, gown, gloves, etc. We are currently trying to figure out a process for staff to be aware who is positive, negative, pending, and negative but should still be on precautions. This is mainly if we are running to a safety alarm who should we stop and get our respirator for. Currently, our positives and symptomatic patients are on special respiratory precautions. We talked this morning at huddle about putting a +, -, or P on the doorway to the room, but this still may be confusing. I was curious to know if anyone has a sustainable process already in place that would be willing to share. Thanks.
