Good afternoon -

I am currently the hospital's only CNL covering 2 med surg floors (47 patients total). They are looking to hire 2 more - one to cover CCU and another to cover oncology/comfort care unit. Additionally, the hospital's structure is changing, so I am curious to know who you report to? the CNO? Director? CNL Manager? Thanks!

Hello Kate,
My first employment as a CNL, I reported to the Nurse Manager. At that time I was the first CNL in the facility (2011). My manager and I explored what my role would look like together and developed it.
The second, my role is a "clinical nurse coordinator,"  initially I reported to the Chief of Operations of the hospital. My chief of service preferred that I report to her,  the needs of the unit were different from others.
Both had advantages and disadvantages.
I hope this is helpful.
