TAP plugin - Layer 2 network for university project

Hi all

A colleague and I are working on a project from our university to deploy virtual network devices on Kubernetes. The goal is to have a setup with KubeVirt to host some virtual machines like a virtual Cisco Router/Switch and some Ubuntu containers as clients for lab environments for other students.

We are having the challenge that we need pure layer 2 connectivity without multicast filtering between the pods and no mac learning should be made (LLDP and port mirroring is not working)

We found the TAP plugin in the documentation but could not find it in the newest release 1.2.0. 

Is this brand-new and haven't been released yet?

Does somebody have any good idea how to achieve our goals?

We have some experience with Kubernetes already but not that deep :)
