CNI Concludes 23rd AGM with Focus on Building a $100 Billion Economy

The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) successfully concluded its 23rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) at The Soaltee Kathmandu under the theme “$100 Billion Economy: Bold Ambition, Smart Strategies, Shared Prosperity.”

The AGM was conducted in two sessions. The closed session was held from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm, setting the institutional framework for the year ahead. The inauguration session took place from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm in the presence of government officials, private sector leaders, development partners and CNI members. Read more

CNI Welcomes Budget for FY 2083/84: Giving a New Direction to the Economy and Prioritizing Industrial Growth

The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has welcomed the government’s newly released budget for the fiscal year 2083/84. CNI believes that this budget, which heavily focuses on industrial promotion, will lay down a solid foundation to steer the country’s economy in a new direction, provided it is implemented effectively. The budget also shows strong potential to attract both domestic and foreign investors. Read more

CNI Submits Suggestions for FY 2083/84 Monetary Policy

The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has submitted its recommendations for the Monetary Policy of Fiscal Year 2083/84 to Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). CNI President Birendra Raj Pandey handed over the recommendations to NRB Governor Prof. Dr. Biswo Nath Poudel.

In its submission, CNI highlighted that while Nepal’s external sector indicators remain strong and encouraging, domestic economic activities have continued to lag behind for an extended period. CNI urged the central bank to formulate a monetary policy that prioritizes economic revival and private sector growth. Read more

CNI Urges Authorities Not to Disconnect Power Supply Until Legal Resolution of Industrial Estate Rent Dispute

The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) sincerely requests that electricity supply to industries operating within industrial estates not be disconnected until the rent-related dispute is finally resolved through legal proceedings.

In the case concerning the increase in industrial estate rental rates, the Honorable Supreme Court, through its verdict dated March 25, 2025 (Chaitra 12, 2081 BS), ruled that the revised rental rates imposed by Industrial Estate Management Limited would be applicable only from July 6, 2022 (Asar 22, 2079 BS). While industrialists have already accepted this verdict, Industrial Estate Management Limited has filed a petition before the Supreme Court seeking a review of the decision. Read more

The CNI IT Council holds  Interaction with Cambodian Business Delegation  

The CNI IT Council held a productive meeting with a delegation from the Cambodian business community led by Mr. Ram Prasad Padhya on Thursday, 11 June 2026 at 3:00 PM. The interaction focused on exploring joint avenues for collaboration, business partnerships, investment opportunities, and knowledge exchange between the ICT sectors of Nepal and Cambodia. Read more

CNI Leadership Visits CNI Gandaki Province 

CNI President Birendra Raj Pandey and CNI Vice President Bhim Ghimire paid an official visit to CNI Gandaki Province, where they held an interactive discussion with the Province Board, Executive Committee members, and industrialists. The meeting focused on the key issues faced by industries in the province and the need for stronger coordination between the central and provincial leadership. Read more

Call to Expand Private Sector Partnerships Amid Challenges of AI, Labor Mobility, and Climate Change

The question is no longer whether the private sector should be involved in development, but rather how this engagement can be institutionalized, adapted, and scaled up in a world rapidly changing due to artificial intelligence (AI), rising labor mobility, and climate change. This was the core message from the regional conference "Private Sector Engagement for Inclusive Development" held in Kathmandu. Jointly organized by the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and Helvetas Nepal under the theme "Converging Business Incentives and Development Outcomes," the event brought together around 150 policymakers, business leaders, development practitioners, financial institution representatives, academics, and entrepreneurs from Nepal and across the region. Participants discussed best practices for involving the private sector in skill development, entrepreneurship promotion, and sustainable economic development, while exploring how to adapt and expand these practices to meet emerging challenges. The discussions focused on how businesses, governments, and development partners can work together to create both commercial value and positive social impact, ultimately building a more resilient and inclusive economy. CNI IT Council Holds ICT Strategy Roundtable with National Planning Commission

The CNI IT Council successfully organized an ICT Strategy Roundtable with Hon’ble Prof. Dr. Sudan Jha, Member of the National Planning Commission, on 10 June 2026 at the CNI Secretariat. The interaction provided a valuable platform for the ICT industry to engage directly with the National Planning Commission and discuss the sector’s current challenges, opportunities, and future strategic priorities. A discussion program on “Green Nano Science and Wellness: Exploring Nepal-India Cooperation” was held on 12 June at CNI. The event was jointly hosted by the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) Tourism Committee and the Nepal Institute for International Cooperation and Engagement (NIICE). Read more

Pokhara – The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) Gandaki Province officially installed its newly elected Executive Committee during a special Installation Ceremony and Interaction Program, bringing together industry leaders, government representatives, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders to discuss the future of industrial development, investment promotion, and economic growth in the province. The consortium of the Powering Nepal's Green Industrial Future (Power-GIF) project successfully organized the Field-Level Inception Workshop on 30 June 2026 at Hotel Siddhartha Diyalo, Birgunj, formally launching field-level implementation of the project in the Birgunj–Simara Industrial Corridor. The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and the Youth Community for Nepalese Contractors (YCNC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reaffirming their long-standing partnership for the organization of the 6th Nepal Infrastructure Summit (NIS) 2026. Read more

Workshop on “Transition of Industrial Boiler in Nepal: Toward Energy-Efficient Clean Fuel and Electric Boiler Technologies”

The stakeholder consultation one day workshop on " Transition of industrial boiler in Nepal: Toward energy-efficient clean fuel and electric boiler technologies" was held at ICIMOD, Khumaltar, Lalitpur on 24 June 2026. The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development, under the aegis of the Government of Nepal’s National Air Quality Management Action Plan (NAQMAP), organized this consultation workshop to bring together key government, industry, technical, financial, and civil society stakeholders to share the landscape of available clean boiler technologies and their applicability across sectors in Nepal. This workshop provided a first opportunity to develop a structured understanding of the technical, financial, environmental, and social feasibility of clean boiler technologies and their applicability across Nepal’s industrial sectors and clusters, thereby informing the development of a national clean boiler transition roadmap. The consultation was being supported by ICIMOD’s Himalayan Resilience Enabling Action Programme (HI-REAP), funded by United Kingdom International Development through its flagship Climate Action for a Resilient Asia (CARA) initiative.
