
Women Leadership Summit 2026 Concludes in Biratnagar, Calls for Stronger Policy Support for Women Entrepreneurs
The Women Leadership Summit 2026, focused on women’s entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and policy participation, concluded successfully in Biratnagar with the release of the 16-point Declaration, calling for stronger policy interventions to promote women-led economic growth.

The summit was jointly organized by the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), CNI Koshi Province, and the CNI Women Leadership Forum under the chairmanship of Birendra Raj Pandey, with Hon’ble Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Kumar Karki attending as chief guest. CNI Meets MoICS Minister

CNI President Mr. Birendra Raj Pandey met with Hon’ble Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Ms. Gauri Kumari today at the Ministry. CNIYEF Hosts High-Level Discussion on Nepal’s Economic and Industrial Outlook

The Confederation of Nepalese Industries organized a “CNI Budget Watch” program focused on the tourism sector, fostering a constructive public-private dialogue on the effective implementation of the national budget. The program brought together government stakeholders, tourism entrepreneurs, aviation representatives, and industry experts to discuss key priorities and opportunities for strengthening Nepal’s tourism industry. The Confederation of Nepalese Industries hosted the 6th edition of the CNI Talk Series featuring Executive Chair of IIDS Dr. Biswas Gauchan on the theme “Next Nepal under New Normal.” The session explored Nepal’s economic transformation and the strategic pathways needed to achieve sustainable and globally competitive growth.
During the session, Dr. Gauchan highlighted Nepal’s key macroeconomic indicators, including inflation, GDP growth, remittance inflows, and trends in monetary and fiscal policy over the years. He also discussed broader structural risks facing the economy, factors of production, and the critical reforms Nepal needs to accelerate growth and realize its aspiration of becoming a USD 100 billion economy. The Confederation of Nepalese Industries Koshi Province has signed an MoU with Society of Economic Journalists Nepal (SEJON) to jointly conduct the Koshi Province Budget Watch program twice a year. The initiative follows the successful practice of the CNI central office, which has been conducting quarterly Budget Watch programs as a platform for public-private dialogue on budget implementation and economic policy. CNI Urges Immediate Address of Contractors’ Concerns
The ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the resulting surge in fuel prices have had a direct impact on Nepal’s economy. Prior to the escalation of the conflict (February 15), diesel was priced at NPR 139 per litre; it has now risen to NPR 225 per litre. Similarly, the price of bitumen has increased from NPR 75 per kg to NPR 155 per kg.
The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has expressed concern over information provided by the Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal (FCAN) indicating that the sharp rise in the prices of diesel, kerosene, bitumen, other construction materials, and transportation costs has pushed the construction industry to the brink of a standstill. According to the Federation, contractors have already incurred losses exceeding NPR 10 billion during this period of price escalation. Read more

The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has submitted its suggestions for Nepal’s Fiscal Year 2083/84 budget to Hon’ble Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle, urging the government to adopt policies that promote industrial expansion and investment growth by recognizing the private sector as the engine of economic development.
