d. LSSP (Large Scale Service Project)
This year's Large Scale Service Project will be in Virginia Beach on June 20th-22nd.  International Convention will take place immediately after on June 22nd to 26th.  You can read more about the event Here

The International Service Committee is also accepting applications for the position of Team Leader on the LSSP Committee.  If you are interested, applications are due February 6th at 11:59 EST.  ( This means 8:59 PST!)  The application is attached. This is a great opportunity to meet and work with Circle K'ers all over the world.

e. DCON (District Convention)
This is our District's BIGGEST event of the year. Schools from all over the District come together to celebrate the year, get awarded for their hard work, and decided on next year's District Board. This year's theme is "CNH World Championship", and will take place in Burbank, CA, from March 25th - 27th. You can find a WHOLE page dedicated to the explanation of this event in the next issue of the Sunburst. But for now, here's some more additional information.

AWARDS!
Now is the time your club should be getting ready to apply for awards. They are a great way to show your club just how much you have accomplished this year. you can start filling out awards by going to the District website and downloading the Awards packet, here

If you have any questions pertaining to the Awards, please contact District Awards Chair, Jonathan Junpradub, autobo...@gmail.com for more information.

Talent Show and CNH Idol Applications
The applications and video audition tapes for Half-time Show and CNH Idol are officially open TODAY (Feb. 1) and will be due on FEB. 28th @ 11:59PM sharp!

What exactly is "Half-time Show" and "CNH Idol"?

Half-time Show is a Talent Show in which the members of Cal-Nev-Ha can showcase their talents and skills to the rest of the District. These acts can range from dance performances, playing musical instruments, and even to performing in a rap group!

CNH Idol is basically our version of American Idol. Individuals from the district compete by performing a song of their choice during the Awards ceremonies and will be chosen by the District themselves through Text Voting!

Why should you go for Half-time Show or CNH Idol?
The winner of the Half-time Show will earn bragging rights AND an awesome Trophy to show off to all of your friends. The CNH Idol will also get bragging rights and a SURPRISE GIFT!

Here are some helpful tips to ensure YOU and YOUR club get to perform:
  • Make sure your audition tapes are made to the best of your abilities
  • Be sure to perform "full out" in your auditions as this is what we will be using to decide who will perform at DCON 2011
  • Be ORIGINAL in the acts you decide to do for Half-time Show. We want diverse and quality acts
  • Feel free to include the DCON theme "CNH World Championship" in your acts
II. Announcements
1. Remember to submit your articles to the Sunburst and get other members to submit articles as well, to edi...@cnhcirclek.org I LOOOOOOOVE receiving articles from members personally through emails (it shows me that you care about what you want to say to the District) also if you have pictures to go along with your articles, those are much appreciated.

2. Please inform other members to subscribe to the MBMML so that they can be better informed about District events.

3. Make sure to check out the District website as it also has a lot of information too. Click here to go to our District website.

4. CKI Scholarship
Every year, the Kiwanis CNH Foundation offers scholarships for students in Circle K. Scholarships can range from $750 - $2,500, and it is available to ALL Circle K members. The link for the application is listed here. Be sure to read the requirements before applying. Also, you must request an official (Read that word. OH-FISH-SHALL) SEALED transcript and mail it in along with your application. The application must be received by (NOT post-marked) Thursday February 24th to the Kiwanis District Office. Also be sure to put ATTN: Bruce Hennings in the address, when mailing in your application. It is HIGHLY recommended that you mail in your application and your transcript TOGETHER so that they do not get lost. I hope all the special colored words in this paragraph made it clear for you how to apply for this scholarship.

5. Kiwanis Family Resources Galore!
I have attached a plethora of Kiwanis Family resources for your eyes to see. Be sure to look at all the wonderful newsletters, District Kiwanis Family Chair, Karen Chen, and her committee have done, as well as the Kiwanis Family Shadow Program.

6. January District Board Meeting Packet
Recently, the District Board had a board meeting, and this is the GIGANTIC packet of everything we discussed as well as the minutes from our last District Board meeting, so if you are curious what the District Board does, you can download the attachment and find out!

That's it for now. Thank you everyone for reading this super long MBMML! I promise to send more out soon!
