THE ELIMINATE PROJECT
(written by Stefanie Chow, UCSD)

SHARE YOUR STORY!

Did you know that UNICEF has a blog for the Eliminate Project? I know MOST schools in the CNH District have held a cool fundraiser to fight maternal neonatal tetanus. Ask your PR chair, other officer, or any general member to write about it! If your fundraiser appears in the blog, let me know, and I’ll share YOUR story with the rest of the District. (:

NOT FOR SALE
(written by Tiffany Por, UCR)

Not For Sale

Most of society sees that human trafficking happens overseas in countries such as Thailand and Vietnam. However, human trafficking also exists right here in the United States! Around 27 million individuals are still in captivity or in bondage, but we only know that much. The fight to end human slavery begins by revealing it. There may be human trafficking incidents around your neighborhood! You can use/view this map to see any documented incidents of human slavery/trafficking in areas around the U.S.: http://www.slaverymap.org/

SlaveryMap exists to record and display instances of human trafficking across the globe. Whether you find them hidden in your hometown or covered in The New York Times, report the incidents onto this map for people everywhere to see. If you encounter a current situation of bondage, do not enter the information here. Please immediately call the US national trafficking hotline number so that the proper law enforcement and service providers can be alerted: 1-888-3737-888.

"The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out; the brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. The brick walls are there to stop the people who don't want it badly enough." ~ Randy Pausch, "The Last Lecture"
