Fwd: Issues in the department - garbage

Hi,

As we all know, the garbage situation in the Centre is getting very bad. The trash under the sink in the lab keeps piling up, and the entire area is almost unusable. It would be great if we could do something about it.

Some suggestions :

- Removing dustbins from the lab and placing them in the corridor (for paper/dry non-edible garbage) and on the steps (for food stuff). (And actually using them).

- Removing teacups from the pantry area - there seem to be more than half a dozen unwashed cups and drying teabags in and around the sink.

- Keeping the table in the pantry area clean, without anything on it.

We are all aware of the rats problem in the labs, the least we can do is ensure that we do not leave food items lying around. 

If we all agree, we could get the place cleaned, and then maintaining it would be our responsibility. 

It would also be great if we all actually followed the notice saying "Please do not leave unwashed cups lying around".

Hoping that this situation gets sorted out at the earliest.

(The stench in the lab is also becoming unbearable)

P.S. : Please forward this to others in the Centre, if they are not included in these lists

Thanks Suchitra. I completely agree with you. And maybe it would help if we all bear in mind the fact that we are shirt staffed and hence the maintenance of the lab will have to be maintained by all of us on our own.
