Hi Everyone,

I'm totally new to the world of CNC routing and am trying to gain all the knowledge I can about using 4 or 5-axis desktop CNC machines to make stone versions of already-existing action figures. Nothing particularly detailed (think My Little Pony, not Transformers) or big (3 to 5 inches at most). I'm hoping to work exclusively with soapstone or alabaster in order to avoid having to use diamond bits underwater. At this point, I would like to try my hand at it before putting down a lot of money for a machine.

I hope this is something people can help me with! :)  Btw, I'm in the Chicago land area (Wilmette).

Have you done any 3-axis CNC work before or is it all new to you?

Depending on the experience you have under your belt already, there may be places I/we would point you to to learn a bit more.
