So after some experimenting with work holding and plunge rates, we had success carving some images into a $3.00 pumpkin using the Shapeoko1!

Tuesday night I trimmed & tinned most of the wiring, compiled GRBL 0.9j, tinkered with some settings, and called it a night before doing any cuts...but last night the fun began!

Using a 1/8" Rotozip down-cut spiral we took 5mm passes at 1000mm/minute, and even though the lil' critter only has one Y-axis stepper, it pushed along just fine. : )

There was some butcher paper laying around, and I was more than pleased to find out that the 5 minutes of cutting and taping equated to a very easy cleanup after all the milling was done.

The machine is now back in it's original, pre-pumpkin configuration with wasteboard, but if anyone wants to join me for another session I'd be more than willing to meet up sometime next week to give some pointers on setup.

Talk about PS-One fun! : )

Cheers,
Danny
