WebKit 项目宣布其 2D 图形渲染切换到 Skia 库。Skia 图形库最初由同名公司开发，2005 年该公司被 Google 收购，2008 年在 New BSD 许可证下开源，它目前已被应用于 Android、Google Chrome、Chrome OS、Chromium OS、Mozilla Firefox、Firefox OS 等项目。WebKit 开发者称，基于 CPU 的 2D 图形渲染器已达到其极限，很多 Web 引擎都将更多渲染工作转移给 GPU，Skia 是少数支持 GPU 渲染的 2D 开源图形库。
