Maybe display a categorized view as goolge news, categories column
placed at left ( horizontal space is abundant on most wide screen display).
Or, just show a big cloud of tags, or several categorized clouds, with
different size of keywords ( I think you know what I mean ). Maybe a
mess too, but clearer. I think one level of classification is needed anyway.

"Channel" is sometimes understood as "category". Most RSS channels do
organize contents by categories. But as you have aggregated sources and
re-organized them by tags to form new categories, if I understand it
correctly, the original sources could be hided. In fact you have not
listed all sources now, because it will be another mess if the source
list grow larger. The source preference should be put into preference
setting.

Google's fault. You should use a real news client to read Usenet. Most
e-mail clients should have this feature too.
