DAILY QUESTION

You hold: <Picture: S> 5 <Picture: H> J 6 2
<Picture: D> K Q J 9 4 <Picture: C> K 9 8 4

Your partner opens 1NT, you jump to three diamonds and he then bids
three hearts. The opponents pass. What do you say?

ANSWER

Partner's three hearts promises diamond help and strength (though perhaps not length)
in hearts. With stoppers in both major suits, he might instead try 3NT. Bid five
diamonds. If partner is worried
about the spades at notrump, 3NT isn't your spot; but five diamonds may come home.
