Get a Taste of American Classroom Experience at Tsinghua

 If you plan to study in the United States in the near future;
 If you want to improve your English with native speakers;
 If you are interested in getting an American perspective on Chinese history, politics, foreign relations and environmental issues;
 If you want to make friends with American college students;
 If you want to learn more about American universities and students life there;

Then you have the opportunity to complete for one of the 20 Tsinghua students selected through interviews to attend English taught courses offered by Syracuse University on Tsinghua campus.

Qualifications for applicants:
1) fluent in English and able to speak and participate in class discussion
2) serious and committed to stay with the course throughout the semester (No Tsinghua credit is available at this point)
3) able to complete assigned readings and class presentations
4) each student can only participate in one course
5) able to pass the interview conducted in English by Dr. Caroline Tong of Syracuse University


PSC/IRE 500 China In Transition (a political science and international relations course that examines the changes China has been going through in political, economic, social and foreign relations areas.) It is taught by Dr. Caroline Tong, Director of Syracuse University Beijing Center.

COM 400 – Chinese Media and Mass Communications(an introductory course on Chinese media and mass communications; designed to provide students with necessary knowledge of the history, development, organizations, operations and management of Chinese media.)It is taught by Dr. Wang Xiuli, associate professor, School of Journalism and Communication, Peking University.

HST 400 Culture, Confucianism & East Asian Modernity – It is the introduction and discussion about Confucianism and its development and its influence in China and East Asia. It is taught by Professor Fang Zhaohui, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Tsinghua. The course includes several field trips to important history sites.

ECN 300 China and the World Economy - taught by Professor Yao Shunli, from School of Economics and Management.
