摘要(Abstract)
Building a computer that could defeat the World Chess Champion was one
of the
oldest holy grails in computer science. In 1997, the task was complete
when Deep
Blue defeated World Chess Champion Gary Kasparov by the score of 3.5 t
o 2.5
in a 1.1-million-dollar match.
This talk reviews the computer chess history leading up to Deep Blue’
s match win
and explains why chip design played a crucial role.
