Querying NELL (2 questions)

Hi ,

I have two questions:

1. Is it possible to ask NELL question such as Does Trump and Obama have the same political view ?

I tried to use http://rtw.ml.cmu.edu/rtw//json0advanced and put Trump as Literal 1 , * for the predicate and Obama for the Literal 2. But it does not produce the right answer.

2. From all the type of relation in NELL ontology, which one that represent Disjointness between concepts / entities ? is it mutexpredicates ?

Hi Kem,

I don't think NELL at present would be able to help very much at
predicting whether or not two people have the same political view because
there's not much in the ontology that would be useful for that. We could
easily add a personHasSamePoliticalViewAsPerson relation, but I don't
think NELL's reading methods would do well trying to read that directly
from text. We could however add an assortment of relations that could be
used be used more or less as features for a classifier to predict
similarity of political view. If you'd like to propose some additional
relations for NELL's ontology, we'd be happy to add them.

NELL in general does not directly store any good measure of disjointness.
I guess the closest thing would be the module that attempts to resolve
polysemy (e.g. deciding that the words "Apple" and "Apple, Inc." refer to
the same concept). This component makes such decisions in part on how
similar two words are in terms of participating in the same relations.
But this again is not the sort of thing that NELL would not be very good
at reading directly (there are a number of "x is similar to y" type
relations, but they tend to be noisy.) So here again the better approach
is probably to have NELL learn things that would be useful as inputs for
some other kind of classifier to measure disjointness.
