We are researchers from the Human-Computer Interaction Institute and Computer Science Department at Carnegie Mellon University, and we are looking for participants for a user study on smartphone notification usage. This is an in-situ study and it will run for about a week. You will be paid up to $25 for your participation. You are not required to be in Pittsburgh to participate.
The study will include the installation of an Android app that can send you short questionnaires regarding selected notifications that you just received. Data to be collected includes the content of some notifications, and the usage of the phone such as when you unlock the phone. To ensure privacy, you will be able to remove any notification that you prefer not to share with us in the app, and your data will be stored with a randomly selected number and will not be linked to your name or email address.
In order to participate in this study, you must be: (1) at least 18 years of age; (2) English-speaking, (3) Use an Android phone as the primary phone(4) be an active Android user (use at least 3 apps on average everyday)
