flash covers the period 10/04/2000 to 10/18/2000.

Top of the News
The US Navy awarded a record $6.9 billion outsourcing contract to
Electronic Data Systems. The deal is worth $4.1 billion for five years, and
includes a guaranteed minimum three-year option period worth $2.8 billion.
News of the deal sent EDS shares up 13 percent. The deal signifies a shift
in government policy towards outsourcing computer services to private
firms.

Alliances/Joint Ventures
Compucom reported an alliance with Andersen Consulting through which
Andersen plans, executes, and manages Compucom's Client 2000 systems
integration project. The project involves mass customization and deployment
services for 5000 laptops, PDAs, and a Windows 2000 migration.

Dow Chemical and Andersen Consulting released plans to form a company. The
San Francisco-based company, iVenturi, will be a virtual workspace for
corporate product development teams to share documents and specifications
with partners and customers online.

IBM's Japanese unit received a 10-year contract to manage the information
systems of Japanese consumer financing company Acom Ltd. Terms of the
contract were not disclosed, but it was estimated to have a value of
between 10 billion and 40 billion yen.

Novell and Akamai Technologies entered a into a strategic alliance to
enhance Web content delivery. Novell integrated Akamai's Akamaizer
functionality into the Novell Internet Caching System (ICS) and Novell
Content Exchange products. The combined offering results in faster
acceleration of content to the end user, utilizing Novell's ability to
accelerate Web servers.

Convergence
Wireless Knowledge and QUALCOMM launched the Workstyle Server for Lotus
Domino. This combined offering allows mobile workers to access Lotus
Domino-based enterprise information using a variety of mobile
Internet-ready devices. Wireless Knowledge will supply the wireless
devices, including AT&T Wireless, Nextel, and Sprint PCS, and will be
jointly marketed nationwide to enterprise customers.

Messaging and Groupware
Trend Micro unveiled ScanMail version 5.0 for Microsoft Exchange 2000. This
combined offering features single instance scanning of both inbound and
outbound e-mail documents and tight integration with Microsoft Windows 2000
Cluster API. Scanmail 5.0 for Exchange 2000 protects corporate networks
from accumulating e-mail-bound viruses at the Exchange server.

McAfee introduced McAfee GroupShield 4.5 for Microsoft Exchange 2000. The
McAfee GroupShield for Exchange 2000 is fully integrated with the virus
scanning API included in the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. GroupShield
enhances performance by fast scanning and by maximizing protection from
viruses for worldwide Exchange users.

Network/Systems Management
BMC Software formed a distributed data base management strategic business
unit, designed to provide customers with products, support, and services.
This new unit's products will include BMC's DataOne family, which covers
such data base products as: SQL Development Tools, Change Management,
Performance Monitoring, and Backup &

Recovery, to be supported by Oracle, Microsoft, and Sybase platforms.

Additionally, BMC Software unveiled the Workload License Pricing, which
utilizes IBM's z/OS and IBM eServer zSeries. The Workload License Pricing
extends BMC Software's pricing models, reducing the overall cost of growth.
This will enable an expansion of BMC's capacity used on the IBM eServer
zSeries, leave room for spare hardware capacity, and run on the Linux
platform.

In other news, BMC Software released PATROL Integration for SiteAngel, a
Knowledge Module (KM) linking PATROL with SiteAngel, designed to improve
Web monitoring and e-business management. Through this integration,
businesses can manage and monitor their Web site themselves, giving them a
centralized view of Web site data, and the ability to implement corrective
action via the PATROL interface.

BMC Software also reported that it will support Microsoft Exchange
2000-based systems via its PATROL for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. The
PATROL for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server product line features Perform,
Predict and Diagnose modules, as well as PATROL's historical, real-time,
and predictive performance capabilities.

Finally, BMC Software unveiled the Pool Advisor for DB2, a service that
collects and analyzes real-time pool usage data. Pool Advisor for DB2 will
be bundled with BMC's OPERTUNE for DB2, MAINVIEW for DB2, and AutoOPERATOR
for MVS. Pool Advisor's overall purpose is to automate performance tuning
and improve overall DB2 performance.

Computer Associates launched a new version of the Unicenter TNG Microsoft
Exchange Option of the Microsoft Exchange platform for e-mail, scheduling,
custom collaboration, and messaging-service applications. The Unicenter TNG
Microsoft Exchange Option 2.0 enables organizations to increase service and
reliability of the Exchange environment via extended performance monitoring
and centralized reporting.

Tivoli Systems reported that its integrated e-business management services
will be available to customers who purchase IBM e-servers. By selecting
Tivoli to manage their e-infrastructures, IBM customers and partners can
enhance both policy-driven security and data integrity. The Tivoli services
available on IBM e-servers will include: Tivoli SecureWay, Tivoli Storage
Management, Tivoli Pervasive Management, and Service Delivery Solutions.

Security
Tivoli Systems launched the Tivoli SecureWay Public Key Infrastructure
(PKI), software for financial organizations looking to enhance e-business
transactions using digital certificates and digital signatures. In
addition, PKI meets the interoperable Identrus e-business standard.

Vendor Services
Corio released iService, a Web-based client service center accessible from
customer sites or remote locations. The service allows customers to log and
track service requests and interact with other customers through product
and knowledge channels.

USInternetworking unveiled E2K Durable-Directory, a messaging and
collaboration service which runs on the Microsoft Exchange 2000 server
platform. The service will enable USi to support enterprise customers by
hosting all or part of the Active Directory.

Financial News
Arthur Andersen reported record revenue of $8.4 billion for the fiscal year
ended August 31, 2000, a 15.4 increase from fiscal 1999. The earnings
represent seven consecutive years of double-digit revenue growth for the
company. The firm's Asia/Pacific region sustained the most growth with a 35
percent revenue increase.

Comdisco reported $3.3 billion in cash flow from operations for the fiscal
year 2000. The report comes after the firm said that it expects to take a
charge against results for its fourth quarter after it stopped funding its
high-speed Internet connection unit Prism. The firm said it expects
revenues to increase 12 percent to $3.7 billion next year.

Legal News
Novell received $2 million in its case against Myung Je, a corporation
based in Seoul, Korea. A US District Court for the District of Utah found
that Myung Je breached its OEM agreement with Novell, using the company's
trademarks in an un authorized fashion, thereby infringing upon Novell's
trademarks.

Personnel and Organizational Changes
Andersen Consulting, recently separated from parent Andersen Worldwide, has
appointed Stephan A. James as the firm's first ever Chief Operating
Officer. James assumed the newly appointed position in July.
