@Zach: A few people have already got their I-20s but I don't think
that should worry others.
I talked to Tara Moe about time line for I-20s, she said that ECE
dept. recently updated OIE (Office of International Education) about
all the admitted candidates so hopefully OIE will now soon issue the
I-20s.
About the course registration, yes you are right Zach that we do need
to consult our academic advisors
before registering but that mostly ends up being a formality. So
mostly we ourselves should plan our
course work and register for the courses (some courses will probably
get filled up soon, much before we actually meet advisors).
Its preferable that we register a few back-up courses and drop a few
courses after incorporating advisor's suggestion at a later stage.
I have heard that unless you work on some project with advisors, they
are mostly not that interested in your coursework etc.
Besides you will better know which areas you want to explore in or
which course will be more suitable
or more relevant to you. As long as you you are able to fulfill the
ECE requirement for courses you should be fine.
