@any/everyone: I understand we can't stay in the on-campus housing
offered by CMU, and so will have to shift off into one of the
neighboring areas. How early will we have to come to Pittsburgh if
we're to get an apartment near the uni?

@seniors: Can you please tell us about how you went about getting your
housing sorted out? Any info about this will definitely be helpful.
Especially things like the common mistakes people make while selecting
houses/apartments. Pitfalls and pointers are all welcome.

Thanks a lot!

Does anyone have any idea how hard it is to get apartments around CMU?
I've done a little scouting around, and most of them are already
rented out. Does anything get free by August?

Anyone still looking to share a room?

Hey Zach

Well.. many apartments do become available from the first week of August. In fact I just rented my previous place out and the new tenants move in on August 1st. You'll find a lot of ads for apartments on www.craiglist.com

In case you haven't used this before. Select city of Pittsburgh and go to the apt/housing link. You'll see ads for different apts.. with info on rent and facilities available. The best areas to move into are Shadyside and Squirrel Hill. The rents and apartments are pretty good. I would suggest you get a temporary accomodation when u get here and check out a few of these apartments.. The earlier you come.. the better it is.. for getting a good place.....

Hope this helps
