Hello

I know some IESW Network members have a background in the field of Human Resources; some may be interested in knowing about the program described below (and attached).

Dear Community Member:

ACCES Employment currently is delivering a bridging program designed for Internationally Trained HR Professionals in partnership with HRPA, Sheridan College and OTEC in Brampton and Mississauga.    The program is called Human Resources Connections, which is a seven-week employment-outcome project designed to move internationally trained human resources professionals into their field of expertise. This project will address significant concerns regarding access to: professional networks; employment opportunities; and, Canadian context. Without support in these areas, many HR professionals are forced to forego their chosen field and pursue other occupations. Our model includes: strong employer and advisor interaction; an academic curriculum focusing on Canadian context – Employment Law & Diversity Management, Industrial Relations and Health & Safety; mentoring opportunities; job placement; and, post-hire components in the form of workplace-based language supports and sector-specific coaching. The selection process will ensure that participants are equipped with: HR experience from another country; knowledge of general HR principles; and, related post secondary education.

The next HR Connections program at our Mississauga location will begin November 5th  to December 21st  , 2012.
