Thanks Gary, I joined just now.

On the clock dome, I gave up trying to get a flat pattern through the sheet metal tool. After speacking with the SW sheet metal guy last week, the radii are too big no matter how you try to fool it.

Now I am cutting sections every inch, drawing a line representing the part at that section (as a "thicken" I can't convert entities!) then projecting the lines onto the top plane, placing dimensions and then creating the flat pattern in a separate part file from the data. I am going to paste these onto poster board, cut them out and try to fit together. Then I can adjust if there are descrepancies.

Long way around but it will get me there.
