Those having public key trouble make sure you followed this step in your lab 0 handout

• _ Step 2 _ Set up github access keys to permit access to github. See gif below

Your cs295_pub.key should be uploaded to github website and you have set the GIT_SSH command. Note that if you reload the shell/terminal GIT_SSH command might be lost. You want to add the export command to your bashrc file.
