WOMEX has just announced its annual call for programme proposals for WOMEX 2011 which will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark from 26th – 30th October 2011.
- Calling all world music artists and DJs...The selected acts will be playing in front of 850 international bookers; 600 labels, distributors, and publishers; and countless journalists - everyone they could possibly need to help launch, sustain and expand their careers. The Showcase (and Conference) selection is taken on by the WOMEX Jury, made up each year of a new generation of international world music pros. In 2010, WOMEX received around 700 artist proposals for almost 40 Showcase slots.http://www.womex.com/lnk/how-to-propose#showcase
- Calling all potential Conference speakers...Share your Live, Recorded and Digital Experiences as well as your "Vision Beyond" with your peer professionals at WOMEX. These four key areas will guide the Conference programme, shaped to serve the music industry's ongoing need for inspiration, exchange and education.
- Calling Mentors...Offer your expertise. Delegates can sign up for private 15-minute consultations free of charge with any of the special mentors. WOMEX is looking for mentors from various fields and occupations - anyone with valuable advice and feedback to offer. The 2010 programme saw more than 60 speakers from 20 countries in around 30 Conference and Mentoring Sessions. The Conference programme is compiled in consultation with the WOMEX Jury.http://www.womex.com/lnk/how-to-propose#conference
- Calling all music filmmakers...Show show your work at the IMZ Film Screenings at WOMEX, the no. 1 platform for world music in audio-visual media. WOMEX's long-time partner IMZ, the International Music + Media Centre in Vienna, will jury the film proposals independently. Last year they received 50 submissions for 14 screening slots. Submitted films will also be considered for the World Music Films On Tour programme, a non-profit distribution project aimed at bringing musical diversity in film and video to a wider public. The deadline for all proposals is Friday 15th April 2011.For further information, visit http://www.womex.com/lnk/how-to-proposeWith kind regardsKatrineKATRINE SMITH
