A Garland for Linda: There are many ways to remember a loved
one. Sir Paul McCartney chose to honor his late wife Linda on
Saturday night with "A Garland for Linda," a concert benefitting
breast cancer research and education. The event, which was held
at Riverside Church in New York City, featured new choral works
by McCartney, John Tavener, Richard Rodney Bennett and John
Rutter as well as music by Ralph Vaughan Williams and some new
choral arrangements of familiar Beatles tunes. NPR was there to
broadcast "A Garland for Linda" live across the country, and
we'll hear highlights from the concert. First is "Musica Dei
Donum" by John Rutter, featuring flutist Demarre (deh-MAH-ree)
McGill with Helen Cha-Pyo conducting the Riverside Festival

Zhou Long (ZHOH LAHNG) is one of a new generation of Chinese
composers mixing sounds of the East with those of the West. The

group Musick's Handmaids devoted an entire concert to music by
Henry Purcell. From that performance, we're going to hear

Johannes Brahms is performed by the Jacksonville Symphony
