I'm happy to announce that Farren's has switched to a pretty darned good
sandwich roll, and their non-burger samitches are now back to the same
excellence they were before.

Also, that my bad experience with the chicken tacos was a new cook slopping
on too much of the same old sauce they've always used.

And they've cut back on the fennel in the meatballs! (what power we
consumers have, eh?)

Especially after reading the tepid (ok, Awful) review of Farren's in the
Octopus, I've got to say that this is one of my favorite places to get a
meal. The food is outstanding (especially when Gouliard, himself, is in the
kitchen). The service is almost always very good (unless you get the
waitress who spends at least as much time apologizing as she does waiting,
and then it's just OK :-). The price is reasonable. The ambiance is a
notch or two up from Basic Bar. And the owner goes out of her way to make
your experience there everything you want it to be.

I read the Octopus review, and wondered if the reviewer was talking about
the same restaurant. Yeah, it can get noisy -- it's a bar, fer
cryinoutloud. But the burgers are scrumptious, and the fries are for my
money the best in town. The one thing I've never cared for there (including
back when it was Creamy's) is when they do steaks. I don't like pan-fried
or flat-grilled steaks. And that's just my personal taste, not a flaw with
Farrens.

YMMV

Good review Stuart. I'll have to check out Farren's someday soon :)
Sometimes nothing beats a good burger & fries at a bar/pub/grill.
Thanks.
