Has anyone heard news about Kennedy's?

I arrived last night (17 May) for an impromptu dinner to find the door
locked. There was a posted note, it did not indicate the status of the
buisiness (is it closed or just moving to a new location?), rather it said
everything was for sale (equipment, furniture, etc.).

According to the Nov 29, 1999 News-Gazette, they are moving to Stone Creek.

Did you happen to notice if First Wok has reopened?

Kennedy's moved last week to Stone Creek, and was closed over the
weekend. I thought their ads in the N-G stated they were to be
open at some point this week, but I can't recall.

If you drive down Philo Road (or Windsor Road east of the Philo
road junction) there is a sign for the turn in for Kennedy's.

I don't kwow if they are open, just where to turn.

Thanks for the info, everyone. After I posted my question I found out from
others about the move (apparently, if i listened to commercial radio in this
town, i would have been better informed about this particular event). Being
curious, I checked out the new location last night. They have been open for
a week and a half. It is a whole new world, compared to the windowless
location in sunnycrest. Big windows looking out on a vista in a middle of a
sqrare mile or more of cornfield morphing into a golf course and the
beginnings of high-end suburban sprawl. The stormy sky yesterday evening
provided a most excellent backdrop to dinner. Everything is new, except, of
course, the food and staff. The general feel of the location is not unlike a
country club, like i said, a whole new world compared to a strip mall.

I agree that the new location is nicer than the old one, though they
certainly won't be getting much "passerby" business -- if you don't know
it's there (i.e. out by the golf course), you'd never know to look for it.
As somebody said, the menu is pretty much the same, but they've eliminated
the mix-and-match thing with the entrees (I think you could choose cooking
technique and the flavor combo, or something). It seemed to us that
they'd subsumed many of the choices into the new menu though. Sundried
tomato vinaigrette totally overwhelmed the mesclun salad and me -- way too
much, way too strong. Main course was good but I can't remember what I
ate -- more a function of circumstances (we experienced eatus interruptus
at the hands of my partner's work).

Service was adequate, perhaps still getting used to the new place or
something -- just little problems (a missing knife, minor inattention).

A caveat for those of you with a noise-level issue -- we were there at
8:00, the dining room was pretty full, and it was really, really loud and
echoey. The table they gave us was also pretty big for only two people, so
we had to listen hard and talk loudly to hear and be heard by each other.

I agree with everything Kate said about Kennedy's. And yes, they
didn't plan for any kind of noise reduction. The ceiling is low and
apparently not sound absorbing. We were there early, only a few other
people there, but just the noise from our party of six bounced around and
was unpleasant.
I'll remember to ask for the vinagrette on the side, from now on.
