I think I went to Dog-n-suds about a week ago, and it was absolutely terrible.

The food is about what you might get if you walked into a random junior
high school cafeteria. Chicken fingers were low quality, and on top of that
the portions were low, especially considering how expensive they were.
My dining companion was utterly unimpressed with the chicken fingers.

I wanted to try their main product, so I ordered the coney dog with meat sauce.
It was basically inedible. I've had better at a gas station.

Being a big eater, I also wanted to try the italian beef. I like to try
every italian beef in town, so that when I get the craving, I know where I
can get a good one.

The italian beef was really a joke.

It had onions on it from a can, and there was so little meat on there that
it might as well have been the kids meal sandwich.

And the service was absolutely terrible. The manager was in a big argument
with the table next to us about the poor service, so I didn't even mention
to her that it took 20 minutes for us to even get our *drinks*. That's right,
20 minutes after we ordered our *drinks*, they arrived. I overheard
excuses about the drive-up having a big rush, and there's no way to plan
for such things, but, heck, it was a weeknight and they've been open for
months... it's not like they've just opened last week.

On the plus side, the root beer was good.

All in all, I give it a D-.

I'll probably never go there ever again.

I hope you've tried Niro's italian beef. It's not just their gyros
that are great.

I've found that Niro's is the best in town for "the french fry sandwich",
an interesting monstrosity that I discovered on Taylor Street in Chicago.
(If you've never been, it's italian beef heaven. And italian ice heaven, in
the summer).

Take a french roll just like you're making an italian beef. Throw in some
mozzerella cheese. Now, instead of adding beef, throw in french fries. Give
the whole thing a double dip in the italian beef juice. It's marvelous.

No one believed me for a while, then one day Richard Simmons was on Letterman
and told everyone all about them. Now at least my friends don't think I made
it up.

The people at Niro's now recognize me as "the french fry sandwich guy",
although I still have to explain it to them every time, just to make sure they
give it a good dip. Nothing worse than the skimpy dip. And one time they
added the fries *after* the dip, which sort of defeats the puropse.

I'm still trying to decide if the FF sandwich is more healthy or less healthy
than a real italian beef. Hard to say, really...

The only complaint I have about Niro's is the Philly Cheesesteak.
It was the first Philly that I've ever thrown away after two bites.

Instead of melted cheese, they mix shredded cheese with mayonnaise, and
it made me gag.

There used to be a chain (about 15 years ago?) called G.D.Ritzy's that
had coney dog that I really loved. I still chase those memories...
