Big Data/Data Warehouse Administrator
Implementing a "trickle"/near real time analytics architecture Integrate Vertica with our Hadoop environment in order to support the ever-growing analytical needs of the business Horizontally scaling our database infrastructure to support our dynamic growth and provide increased redundancy Opening a data center in Europe Developing a disaster recovery and an infrastructure level business continuity plan
Responsibilities include:
Become our technical expert in Vertica technologies Provide day to day support of our Vertica infrastructure including: Cluster monitoring and troubleshooting Provide SQL or Workload Manager query tuning and optimizations Analytical and Big Data Application design Cluster Expansion and Support Install Vertica version updates and patches Work with Analytics teams to develop business initiatives and algorithms as they relate to Vertica Provide day to day support of our Solr infrastructure (willing to train) Monitor and troubleshoot replication, performance, and availability Provide second level On-Call support Performing all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
BA or BS degree from a 4-year college or university 2 - 4 years of data warehouse experience Experience working with large-scale analytics environments, such as HDFS and MapReduce, analytic databases like Vertica Data warehouse design knowledge Scripting expertise (Shell, Perl, Python) Experience with SQL Server Analysis Services a strong plus Experience with Netezza, Greenplum, Teradata a plus Experience with the following technologies are a plus: Hive, Git/SVN, Zabbix, MSSQL, MySQL
