Position Description:
Responsibilities:
Position is responsible for Tier II (highest tier) engineering and support for
Cisco based data network providing transport services between central
office switching and transport network elements and the host applications
that manage them. This data network is known internally as CONet.
Provides designs for and manages implementation of remote office and
other site deployments which match client/project requirements. Clients
and projects come from various Network Services organizations.
Provides trouble analysis and resolution for non-routine problems which
require excalation other Tier II subject matter expert peers or interfaces
with vendor (Cisco) as needed for permanent resolution. Shares "on duty"
responsibilities, responding to escalation trouble calls 7x24 approximately
one week out of six. Some travel is required.
Experience Required:
Qualifications:
Prefer Computer Science degree with emphasis on data networking,
substitute work experience acceptable. Working knowledge and some
experience with Cisco routers, ether switches required as well as
general telecommunications background.
Familiarity/experience with central office technology (transport and
switch) or with Operations support systems (OSS applications.) Cisco
certification considered a plus but not required.
