Hi Michael,

I've been following the discussion here and closely watching your
plone.org project, will you have a stable release for Plone 3.x
anytime soon? We would very much like to use PloneSurvey again (we
used it when we were on Plone 2.5.x previously) but we need it
production-ready.

Thanks,
-Steve

Hi Steve,

The plan at the moment is to make one more 2.5 aimed release, then start
work on a 3 compatible version.

Main problem is that I can only work on this in my spare time, as I don't
currently use it in a work context. So, progress is slow I'm afraid.

If you could commit some resources to it, might spur me on ;-)

Cheers
Michael

Steve,
We're running PloneSurvey 1.3.0 alpha live on Plone 3.1.2 for a major university site, with some users who do quite sophisticated surveys. In our experience it works just as well as previous versions of PloneSurvey, In other words, its not got any new bugs that weren't there before. ;-)
To my mind the 1.3.0 alpha is a lot better than 'alpha' really.
Because there have been many recent changes in trunk, it seems to me its will be a while before another 1.3.0 version emerges that's as well tested as that alpha. The whole reason I did that alpha release was so that people could run Plone 3.x and not be stuck on 2.5.
Just my 2p and others may disagree.
Regards,
Nick

Hi Nick,

I have a feeling that it's working for you as you migrated your site
from 2.5 to 3 with PloneSurvey installed. I'm not certain that it will
work being freshly installed in a 3 site. The gs syntax is 2.5 based,
and some of the syntax changes in 3.

Cheers

Hi Michael,

I've installed 1.3.0 alpha on a test server, at the very least we can
do some bug hunting for you. My talented Plone developer recently
left, so I don't have any real muscle to offer on the code side, but
we are happy to contribute where we can!

We weren't able to migrate our site from 2.5.x to 3 cleanly, so we'll
be testing a fresh install of Plone 3.1.2 with PloneSurvey 1.3.0
alpha. It installed just fine and I've already started creating a
survey, so we'll see how far we can get.

Thanks,
-Steve

I've started from scratch with 1.3.0 and it works ok and install
correctly.

I have found a few bugs, but nothing show-stopping yet:

1) Permissions are broken, I cannot add other users/groups (to give
them editing/workflow rights) to the survey folder. Two sharing tabs
appear, both send you to the URL survey_folder_name/@@sharing which
displays OK, but searching user/group name fails. This is merely
annoying, since it means I have to make all edits myself.
2) Plone 2.5x stuff like the "Syndication" tab is still showing up
(this is minor), the "Send This" "Print This" links appear at the top
of the page (also minor).
3) When I tried to add a Text Box to a Survey Text Question with the
"Appear between the question and answer" option the entire question
failed to display. I have not tested any permutations on this (I've
got a survey to launch!).

We've done some tests auditing our entered answers with the results
and it appears to be working fine.

Thanks for all your hard work, we appreciate it.
-Steve

same here, I think this is due to having acl_users "inside" PS. So the
sharing tab refer to that acl_users and not on the upper. you just
have to put the survey in a folder, and do sharing on the folder.

Or add an user in the local acl_user and give him more priviledges.
The local users are the respondents, search for any of them and you'll
find you can share over respondents but not over the main acl_users
