Hi all,

I've worked a bit on my own on PloneSurvey. I've "eggified" it and
I've added support for File-type question, in order to let users to
upload files on the survey. I started from the 1.2.2 version. I've
tested it on plone 3.2.2 and it works fine.

I want to contribute to the mainstream code, and add my changes to
your code, if you want. SVN repository of my personal release is at
https://pcfs1.ictp.it/svn/icts/amessina/plone3/Products.PloneSurvey/tags/1.3.1/

ciao

Hi Arcimboldo,

Sounds good, I've not done anything on it for a while. Can you cut a branch
from trunk and add your changes in there. I think I need to make one more
Plone 2.5 compatible release before full Plone 3.0 compatibility.

Any problems, let me know.
Cheers
Michael

Hi again,

I've started a small project using PloneSurvey a while ago and I'd
like to upgrade it to a Plone 3.3 instance. I see the 1.3.0 Alpha was
released a while ago. Are there plans to release a Plone 3.x (3.3 ?)
compatible release this Fall ?

I can use what I have for a demo (it's for a school) but I'd really
like to use Plone 3.3. Is there a way I can help ? I've got limited
(but non zero !) programming skills. I could at least try to test the
unicodeDecode error (bug # 73) as that's the kind of problem I've
experienced most often (French canadian locale, windows 1252, etc.) on
my previous installations of PloneSurvey.

Cheers,

Yves

Yves,
We've been using PloneSurvey 1.3.0alpha since Sep 08, with Plone 3.1.x .
There are some bugs, although none that weren't there already in earlier PloneSurvey versions. Problems are mostly only exposed when people try to do complex or clever things. The issue tracker on plone.org will tell you what's still outstanding.
We don't intend to upgrade Plone soon, as there's no new feature in 3.2 or 3.3 that we require enough, to justify the effort of upgrading and re-testing at this stage.
I had a play with downloading Plone 3.3 and installing PloneSurvey 1.3.0, by putting Products.PloneSurvey in buildout.cfg. This looks like it installs OK and adding a survey, a question and viewing results is fine.
According to the roadmap on plone.org, products that work with Plone 3.1 ought to work OK with 3.2 and 3.3.
It could be worth your while to take PloneSurvey 1.3.0 for a spin with Plone 3.3 and see what happens.
Alternatively, do you really need to upgrade Plone to 3.3? Would 3.1 be OK for you?

Hi Nick,

No I don't, but I'd rather use the newest and greatest just so I know
I have a bunch of possibilities when users of PloneSurvey find out
they're using something called... Plone ;-) Also, my French
Canadian locale benefits from newer versions. But indeed if 1.3.0
works in Plone 3.1 and for some reason not in 3.3, I could use 3.1.
Thanx for the tips.

Yves
