Hi there,
I am the current A/V programmer @ Wellesley College. The CMDR (previously Roomtrol) project in our school was put on hold because Sarah left her position... So we re-launch this project again after I took the position this summer. Due to the lack of information, and Sarah didn’t leave too much note, I can only find a way to let the PJLink part work... And you guys upgraded the system and the UI recently, I think I really need to set up a small meeting with you (cuz I have a lot of noobie questions).

For now, I have trouble with:
1. I/R interface
2. Crestron Control
3. USB Port identification

May I speak with you guys directly through phone calls somehow? That may help a lot, I think...

Thanks!

Best,
Gus Zhang

Hello Gus,

Unfortunately, all of us on this mailing list are no longer employed by Wesleyan so our time to dedicate to the cmdr project is rather limited.  That being said, I will try to address your questions to the best of my ability:

1. The IR interface is somewhat unreliable, we had migrated most devices to IP control entirely.   When using IR, we used receivers and kernel modules from IguanaWorks (http://iguanaworks.net/projects/IguanaIR/), so their page may be a resource for you.

2. We never had a single piece of Crestron equipment on campus, so we have no built-in support for any Crestron devices, however you should be able to write a device driver for them using our current drivers as a model and referencing the documentation here: https://github.com/wesleyan/cmdr-devices/wiki

3. If I recall correctly (and someone else feel free to jump in here if I'm off base), you need to define what USB port the serial adapter is on within the CouchDB configuration.  You can find out what that is by navigating through /dev/usb on the filesystem.

Hope this helps!
